With just four months to go until the US elections, there are growing calls within the political establishment for Biden to step down as the Democratic Party candidate. Whether or not Biden drops out of the presidential race, the Democratic Party is committed to a policy of escalating global war.
Biden's performance in the debate has precipitated maneuvers to oust him as the Democratic candidate, but more fundamental issues are at stake. Indeed, the fact that Biden's cognitive capacity is significantly impaired has been known for some time. The debate fiasco, however, made impossible the continued public denial of this fact.
The concerns within the ruling class over Biden are motivated by several factors.
First, the capitalist oligarchy is concerned about the foreign policy implications of the elections, particularly in relation to the escalation of the war against Russia in Ukraine.
Second, and perhaps more fundamentally, the ruling elite fear the consequences of a Trump victory for the social and political stability of the United States.
The Supreme Court ruling in Trump v. United States has effectively overturned the Constitution and core democratic principles advanced by the American Revolution and Civil War, and it has exacerbated the highly unstable social and political conditions existing in the United States. There is an awareness within sections of the ruling class that the coming to power of Trump under these conditions will fuel explosive social discontent and a process of irreversible political radicalization.
The breakdown of democratic forms of rule has two fundamental underlying objective causes: 1) unending and escalating war; and 2) the extreme growth of social inequality.
War, genocide, inequality and dictatorship can only be fought by confronting and overturning the root of the problem: the bankrupt capitalist system.
The time to act is now. Make plans to attend the rally and meeting in DC on July 24. If you cannot attend in person, we urge you to donate to help with the costs of organization and promotion, and contact us to discuss how you can get involved.
