Dear reader, Here are the latest articles published today on the World Socialist Web Site. Netanyahu and the Israeli regime are guilty of war crimes, for which they must be held accountable. But the invitation extended by the Democrats and Republicans in Congress for Netanyahu to speak at a joint session exposes the real relationship between US imperialism and Israel. There is a new Democratic presidential candidate, but the same right-wing program of war and austerity. An organization and its class character must be judged, not by what it says of itself, but on the basis of its history and program. Footage of the brutal murder of Massey, an unarmed woman holding a pot of water in her home, has provoked widespread anger. Soldiers spoke of being authorized to open fire on Palestinians virtually at will, and being required to torch residential buildings and kill civilians during bombing raids. People are back to work," Ontario's right-wing Premier Doug Ford boasted Monday as more than 9,000 workers at government-owned liquor stores returned to the job after two weeks on strike. The plight of millions of low-paid workers are routinely concealed in the official claims of low unemployment. Growing heat deaths are a result of global warming, homelessness and the infrastructure crisis. Chicago Mayor Johnson and Chicago Teachers Union leaders had called for the state to increase funding, knowing full well it would not, in order to give themselves cover for the next sellout teachers contract. Intensifying diplomatic manoeuvring involving strategically placed Pacific states portends vast preparations for looming wars and police-state repression across the region. The Albanese Labor government has rapidly expanded the number of refugees detained on the remote tiny Pacific island of Nauru, under appalling and punitive conditions. The 91 percent rejection is not only in defiance of the management, but a sharp rebuke to the union bureaucrats who brought the deal to a vote. Unions covering more than 11,400 Walmart workers have shut down a strike after just six days while 28,000 US flight attendants at United will vote next month on approval to strike. Germany's federal and state governments drastically increased the number of deportations last year compared to 2022.
