Today, the Trump administration has launched an imperialist attack on Iran—a massive political crime, illegal under international law and in direct violation of the US Constitution. It was carried out without even the pretense of congressional authorization, in collaboration with the genocidal Israeli regime, against a country that has not attacked the United States and poses no threat to it.
Within the first hours, reports indicate that at least 24 students were killed in an air strike on a girls' school in Minab. How many more thousands will die in the days ahead?
Only four days ago, Trump stood before Congress to deliver his State of the Union address. Having already decided on war, he concealed it from the population—then announced the attack in the dead of night, while millions slept.
The same administration that is escalating ICE terror and trampling the Bill of Rights is now setting the United States and the world on a disastrous course that threatens to engulf the entire planet.
The World Socialist Web Site, International Committee of the Fourth International and the Socialist Equality Party demand that this assault be stopped immediately. We urge workers, youth, and all progressive people to oppose the war and to organize meetings in workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods to demand its immediate end. The world must know: the American people want no part of this criminal attack, launched in the interests of the financial-corporate oligarchy.
