On the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the rights proclaimed in 1776 are being systematically dismantled. The White House is moving to shred the rights proclaimed in 1776 and replace them with police-state rule. At the same time, Trump is intensifying imperialist violence abroad while waging class war at home, as part of a global turn by capitalist governments toward militarism, authoritarianism, and sweeping attacks on living standards.
In response to the ruling elite's turn to dictatorship, opposition is growing, from the mass demonstrations in Minnesota, to the strike wave across the United States, to major class battles in Turkey, Mexico, Argentina and many other countries.
What is posed ever more sharply is the need for organization and leadership, based on a political perspective equal to the scale of the crisis.
The World Socialist Web Site is unique in providing daily analysis of these events from a Marxist and internationalist standpoint. We have exposed the drive toward dictatorship, linked attacks on immigrants and democratic rights to the broader crisis of capitalism, and insisted that the decisive force in the fight against war and repression is the independent mobilization of the working class. We are also expanding the technological and educational tools necessary for this struggle, including the development of Socialism AI.
