Across 2,700 cities and towns, from New York to Chicago to Los Angeles and beyond, workers and youth voiced their opposition to Trump's drive to establish a presidential dictatorship. The World Socialist Web Site provided the most extensive coverage of the protests available anywhere. Our reporters interviewed workers, students, and young people who spoke about their determination to oppose dictatorship and inequality.  Most importantly, the WSWS advanced the socialist program and perspective needed to turn this mass opposition into a conscious movement of the working class, distributing thousands of leaflets across the country. The WSWS also provides the essential historical clarity to arm this movement politically. In its recent webinar, Nazism, Big Business, and the Working Class: Historical Experience and Political Lessons, chaired by David North, leading historians David Abraham, Jacques Pauwels and Mario Kessler discussed the class roots of fascism and the role of big business in bringing Hitler to power. The event drew critical parallels to the present crisis, demonstrating that the struggle against dictatorship today, no less than in the 1930s, demands the independent revolutionary mobilization of the working class for socialism. While the corporate media suppresses opposition, and has almost entirely ignored the protests, the WSWS exposes the truth and advances the fight to build a conscious socialist movement. The No Kings demonstrations expressed enormous anger and determination, but as the WSWS explained after the protest, "For this movement to go forward, the demonstrations must be critically evaluated and placed within the context of the overall political situation. The danger is that, without the articulation of a clear perspective, the enormous popular impulse of opposition will be dissipated."  While the Democratic Party pleads for "bipartisanship" and works to derail opposition into safe, pro-war channels, the WSWS insists that the fight against dictatorship must be rooted in the independent mobilization of the working class, uniting workers across industries, borders, and continents on the basis of socialism.
