We have explained that the Trump administration is acting on behalf of the financial oligarchy, pursuing a deliberate plan to establish a police-state regime directed above all against the working class.
The oligarchs are convinced that a sweeping assault on workers' living standards is necessary. Social reforms won over the past century, from Social Security to Medicare and Medicaid, are to be gutted.
These attacks are not unique to America. The United States represents the sharpest expression of a global process: everywhere, capitalism in crisis is turning to dictatorship and war to defend the wealth of a tiny minority.
Trump and his allies do not command broad popular support. The American people do not want dictatorship or fascism. What is required, however, is a conscious political leadership that can unify and mobilize the immense social power of the working class.
