The war is not a surprise. It is the inevitable outcome of decades of imperialist violence by the United States and its allies. Now, facing unprecedented political and social crises at home, the American ruling class is turning to war abroad and dictatorship at home. The media spews lies. The Democratic Party offers only cowardice and complicity.
But millions around the world are sickened by this war and the whole capitalist system that has spawned it. In the US, millions marched just a week before the attack on Iran in opposition to the Trump regime's escalating repression.
A new force is emerging: the international working class. But to win, it must be organized and armed with a revolutionary program.
That is the task of the World Socialist Web Site. Monday's editorial board statement, "A day that will live in infamy," exposes the real aims of the US assault on Iran—regime change, conquest of critical energy resources, and preparation for global war—and issued an urgent call for protests, strikes, and walkouts to stop the war machine.
