Dear reader,
On Sunday, the World Socialist Web Site held its 10th annual International May Day Online Rally, featuring speakers from five continents who presented a revolutionary socialist strategy to stop imperialist war and capitalist exploitation.
The rally was a unique world event. Speakers from Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Sri Lanka, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, France and Brazil came together and addressed a global audience of workers and youth from dozens of countries. They provided political direction to the growing opposition in the working class to war, social inequality, the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, the threat of fascism and all the evils of a crisis-ridden capitalism.
The unified message of the rally was: the international working class has the power to stop the imperialist war from developing into a nuclear catastrophe. What is required is political leadership and revolutionary strategy. That is what the World Socialist Web Site has fought for in its 25 years of existence, and it will continue to fight for it in the crucial period ahead.
You can watch the rally, featuring WSWS International Editorial Board Chairperson David North's opening remarks, here.
From both a political and technical standpoint, the rally involved an immense amount of work from ICFI members internationally. To carry this forward and host further such events, we need your financial support.
